Looking for a quick, protein-packed toddler breakfast that’s easy to prep ahead and freezer-friendly? These cheesy sausage egg bites are a family favorite—made with just a few simple ingredients and perfect for busy mornings.

Why These Egg Bites Are Perfect for Toddlers

If you’re looking for a high protein toddler breakfast that your little one will want to actually eat, then this easy egg bite recipe is for you. With eggs, cottage cheese, and ground sausage, these sausage egg bites for kids are packed with protein which will help keep them fuller longer–which will help keep hangry temper tantrums at bay!

Another reason these mini egg bites are so good for little ones (or for yourself as well!) is because they are so customizable. There are so many different ingredient options you can add to this sausage egg bite recipe.

I also love this recipe because it makes toddler meal prep easy. If your mornings are anything like ours, chaos is king. Making these breakfast egg bites for my toddler helps the morning flow just a little bit easier.

Ingredients for High-Protein Toddler Egg Bites

If you need a pantry staple breakfast recipe–this is one you need to add to your rotation. These toddler breakfast egg bites have simple ingredients that pack flavors that your little one will love.

    • 10 large eggs – whisked; the base for these protein-packed breakfast bites.
    • ½ cup shredded cheese – cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend all work well for a melty texture toddlers love.
    • ½  cup cottage cheese – adds creaminess and an extra boost of protein without overpowering flavor.
    • ½  pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled – opt for mild sausage to keep it toddler-friendly.
    • Seasoning to taste – a pinch of salt and pepper or your favorite all-purpose seasoning.
    • Avocado oil or olive oil – used for greasing the muffin tin to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.

    Add-In Ideas for Picky Eaters

There are so many ways you can customize these toddler breakfast egg bites to appease your little one. You can switch out any of the mix-ins to make breakfast egg bites for kids just how you like them. I’ve tried adding different meat like diced ham or diced bacon as well as finely diced vegetables like spinach or peppers.

How to Make High-Protein Egg Bites

Making these toddler egg bites is so simple and easy–you’ve got to make these today. Here’s the steps to making sausage egg bites for kids.

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F
    2. Grease 6 spots in a muffin tin with oil.
    3. In a bowl, mix eggs, shredded cheese, cottage cheese, sausage, and seasoning.
    4. Pour the mixture evenly into the muffin tin (about ½ cup per cavity).
    5. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the centers are fully set.
    6. Cool slightly and serve, or store in the fridge for up to 6 days.

    Storage & Reheating Tips

I always make toddler egg muffin bites on Sundays so that we have breakfast for our son all week. I store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to six days. These breakfast egg bites are also good for freezing. To freeze, I wrap them in parchment paper, then freeze them in a ziploc freezer bag. These will last for up to a month.
