Gin
The basis of this gimlet is gin. Just like other liquors, there is a myriad of qualities out there. We typically use Bombay gin when making gimlets or other gin cocktails, but feel free to use whatever brand you’d like.
Pineapple Juice
This sage gimlet cocktail recipe gets its sweetness from pineapple juice. Fresh pineapple juice is not easy to come by in northeast South Dakota, so I buy it by the bottle or can from the store.
Sage Simple Syrup
Sage simple syrup is the key ingredient for this gin gimlet cocktail recipe. If you’ve never made simple syrup before, have no fear. Making simple syrup is just what the name says, simple!
How to Make Sage Simple Syrup
You can make sage simple syrup by combining one part sugar to one part water in a saucepan. Cook over medium high heat until the sugar is dissolved. Add in sage leaves. You do not need to heat until boiling. Once sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and allow to cool. Once the syrup is cool, remove the sage leaves, and use in your favorite cocktail.
This simple syrup can be stored up to two weeks in the refrigerator.
